This article provides an overview of an optional HomeKeeper blueprint that geocodes all Property records and allows you to view them on an interactive map or to export a list of geocoded addresses to import into another mapping tool. Here, you'll learn how to install the tool, the limitations, and how to use its full functionality.

Property Map Overview

This map is built using a Google Maps plugin and allows you to easily visualize the Properties that you have entered into HomeKeeper. By adding this Property Map blueprint, you'll also receive an automation that geocodes your Properties for you. You can use these populated latitude/longitude values to import your Properties into other mapping tools.

Limitations

• This tool utilizes a Google Maps plugin, and so has any related limitations. See here for more information. 
• Performance degrades at high number of Properties, which means the page may take longer to load. Select filters to reduce the numebr of Properties displayed and improve performance.
• To avoid significant performance degradation, the map will display a maximum of 2,000 Properties.
• You cannot customize the map appearance, including colors and icons.
• Properties are geocoded using Salesforce's proprietary method, which may not always match up with Google's geocoding. The latitude and longitude can be manually modified in the Property record.
• When loading the page, the map will always automatically center on midpoint between all Properties. 

Requirements

Before installing, you will need to complete the following steps:

1. Ensure Maps and Locations feature in Setup is Enabled
   1. Navigate to Setup > Maps and Location Settings. Edit and check the Enable Maps and Locations checkbox and Autocomplete

2. Under Data Integration Rules: Edit Geocodes for Shipping Address and uncheck Bypass triggers and Bypass workflow rule and Save. Click on Activate.

How to Install

Navigate to our installation site here, then follow the instructions below to deploy the Property Mapping Blueprint

1. First, Log In as a System Administrator or HomeKeeper Administrator.

2. Select the Blueprints tab and click ‘Property Map’.

3. On the next page, select ‘Deploy Property Map’. It will prompt you to login to your HomeKeeper, and then you will need to authorize access for it to complete the install.

Post-Install Setup

After the install is complete, you must complete the following steps in your HomeKeeper:

1. Enable tab visibility (default on): Open your profile, find the Property Map tab and change the visibility to default on and save.

2. Ensure Flows are Active: HK Property Account For Geolocation, HK Property Geolocation and HK Property Geolocation Batch. 

2. Add Property Map tab to HomeKeeper application: Open the App Manager, find the Homekeeper (Lightning) app, edit it and go to the Navigation Items. Add the Property Map tab and save.

3. Assign Permission Set: Open HomeKeeper Maps permission, click Manage Assignments, and add the users.
4. Add List View button: Open the Property List View Button Layout and add the Mass Geolocate Properties button.

Using Filters

The following filters are included:

• Address - filter by City, State and/or Zip Code
• Tenure Type - default picklist values
• Status - default picklist values
• Development - blank by default, but custom values can be added
• Source of Home - default picklist values
• Date Placed in Program - can set a date range

These filters cannot be removed, but you can change the values in the dropdown by editing the related fields. See here for more information. 

There is also a custom filter, which you can customize to display any information. This is done by modifying the field in Setup → Object Manager → Property → Fields & Relationships → ‘Custom Map Filter Picklist’.

This is not a managed field, which means you can customize all aspects of it, including the field name/label. 

Property Geocoding

The Property geocoding is located on the Latitude and Longitude fields on the Property record. These fields are not on the Property layout by default, but you can add them by following the instructions in this support article. 

Properties are automatically geocoded when manually entered. If you're importing Properties, you will need to manually prompt the process. You can do this by clicking the ‘Geocode Property’ button on the Property record. This will check for any Properties with blank Latitude and Longitudes and update them. The process may take up to 15 minutes.
