Page layouts determine what information appears on a page, including fields, related lists, and buttons. HomeKeeper provides default page layouts, but you can edit them: add or remove fields, change the placement of fields, and change the sequence of fields.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Go to the tab for Object where you would like to edit the page layout, and select "Setup Menu" (the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner).

2. From the Setup Menu, select ‘Edit Object’. This takes you to the Object Manager for that Object

3. From the Object Manager, select ‘Page Layouts’.

4. Click the name of the Page Layout you want to edit.

The Page Layout editor palette will load. As you scroll down, the editor palette will remain at the top of your screen.

NOTE: If unsure, select the “Page Layout Assignment” button, and view which layout is assigned to your Profile and the appropriate Record Type.

Tips:

  • At the top of the palette, there is a drop-down list box where you can easily select a different Page Layout for the object you are working with. This saves time if you need to switch between layouts quickly.
  • In the list of fields, fields which are already in the layout are “grayed out” and fields which have not been placed are black.
  • If you point your mouse to the right edge of a field or the section break line, a “wrench” icon will appear. Clicking on this icon will give you access to settings for that field.

5. Make Desired Edits to Your Layout

Elements in the page layout editor are drag and drop, making edits simple.

  1. Rearrange fields: Simply drag fields around to where you want them to be.
  2. Remove a field: If you want to remove a field from the layout, drag it back up to the palette, or click the “x” button that appears when you hover over a field to remove the field from the layout.
  3. Add a field: To add a field, drag it down from the palette.
  1. Add a Blank Space or Section Break: These can help you organize your fields and change the layout so that information is easier to work with.  Find these elements in the top left corner of the palette.
  2. Update Related Lists: You can rearrange, add, and remove Related Lists by scrolling down to the Related Lists section at the bottom of the page layout. From here you can
    1. Arrange them in the order that you like
    2. Add new Related lists (all available Objects are in the palette above)
    3. Remove Related Lists by clicking on the minus button next to the list

NOTE: Moving a Newly Created Field to a New Location

When you create a new field, you can choose to have it automatically added to the layout. By default, any new field added is placed at the bottom of the left-hand column in the first section.  Scroll down to see where it is placed.  If you wish to move it, click with your mouse and drag it to a new location. Be sure to save your work before you leave this screen.
