Below you'll find step-by-step instructions for adding the latest NOFA to HomeKeeper under the “Activity Type” field, as well as the Custom Settings  as an "Acceptable HUD 9902 Activity Type" which allows for the submission of that NOFA to HCS

NOTE: This article is related to using HomeKeeper to report to HUD, which is an add-on feature set for HomeKeeper. If your program is interested in using HomeKeeper to report housing counseling to HUD, contact HomeKeeper support for pricing/setup information.

Step One: Add the new value in HomeKeeper App Settings

From the App Launcher, search for "HomeKeeper App Settings," and select, "HomeKeeper Housing Counseling Settings"

Clicking on the App Launcher from the home page and searching for "App" to find the App Settings Page

Note the values in “Acceptable HUD Activity Type.” Add the latest year's value using the naming convention.

For example, to add 2024, add the text in bold: "NOFA 2024-1 COMP;NOFA 2023-1 COMP;Activities for All Counseling and Education"

Adding the new NOFA value under the "Acceptable 9902 HUD Activity Type Field

Optional: Remove text for years where the HUD grants have been closed out (so old values can not accidentally be reported to HUD).

WARNING: Do NOT remove the "Activities for All Counseling and Education" value from your Custom Settings. This will prevent you from submitting your 9902.

Step Two: Add the new value to the HUD Activity Type picklist on Group Session

Add a picklist value for the new year (i.e."NOFA 2024-1 COMP") to the HUD Activity Type picklist field on the Group Session object

See How to Change Picklist Values

Optional: remove a picklist value for years where HUD grants have been closed out (so old values can not accidentally be reported to HUD).

Step Three: Add the new value to the HUD Activity Type picklist on Counseling/Education

Add a picklist value for the new year (i.e."NOFA 2024-1 COMP") to the HUD Activity Type picklist field on Counseling/Education.

See How to Change Picklist Values

Counseling/Education has two types, so be sure to add the value for both the types you use.

The "Edit" page for adding a new picklist value to Activity type, and the available Record Types.

Optional: remove a picklist value for years where HUD grants have been closed out (so old values can not accidentally be reported to HUD).

Example of picklist values

If you need to update the field Activity Type for your ongoing 1-1 Counseling/Education, try creating a list view to mass update multiple Counseling/Education records. Here's a short video showing how to mass update Activity Type, after the new value has been added using below steps.
